Zito Disappointed by Kotoko’s Performance in Wydad Defeat

Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed frustration over his team’s showing in their 1-0 loss to Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club during the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second round.

The match, played at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw Kotoko reduced to ten men after goalkeeper Mohammed Camara was sent off in the second half.

Speaking after the game, Zito admitted that while the performance wasn’t entirely poor, it fell short of his expectations. “I need to understand their mindset this wasn’t the level I anticipated. We prepared thoroughly and gave them enough rest,” he said.

Kotoko had previously advanced by defeating Nigeria’s Kwara United 5-3 on aggregate. They now face a tough challenge in the return leg scheduled for October 24 in Morocco.
